How to Setup your Privacy Hero Router

Thank you for choosing Privacy Hero as your VPN solution. After a few quick steps, you'll be able to take full advantage of what our Smart VPN router has to offer.

Physical Connection

Before creating your Privacy Hero account, we will need to plug your Privacy Hero router to power and connect it to your existing ISP router/modem.

Take your Privacy Hero router out of the box and grab the included Ethernet cable.

  • Connect one end of the cable to your Privacy Hero router's WAN port - the blue port which has Internet marked below it.
  • Connect the other end of the cable to one your ISP router's/modem's LAN ports - those should usually be colored yellow or orange.

When the router is found, you will see a confirmation message on screen and the option to continue.

Step 5:

Your Privacy Hero will now need to update it's firmware. Just follow the prompts on screen after the update is complete.

Step 6:

Now it's time to set your Privacy Hero Wi-Fi. Pick a name and password for the wireless network.

Here are 2 tips for best results:

  • You can set the network name to the same name and password as your existing network to avoid needing to re-connect every device.

It is very important to disable your ISP router's Wi-Fi signal if you decide to go with this option. This can usually be done on your ISP router's control panel.
OR
  • You can choose a new network name (like PrivacyHero) and move all of your devices to the new network manually.
Regardless of what you choose here - Two separate Wi-Fi networks will be created.
- YourNetworkName - A 5Ghz band that provides less coverage but transmits data at faster rates.
- YourNetworkName2 - A 2.4Ghz band that provides coverage at longer ranges but transmits data at slower rates.
