How to disable ISP router Wi-Fi

If you've set-up your Privacy Hero router, you may want to disable your originally ISP router's Wi-Fi signal for a few reasons:

  • If you set-up your Privacy Hero to have the same Wi-Fi name so all of your devices connect to your Privacy Hero router automatically.
  • You want less Wi-Fi congestion going on around the house - if your Privacy Hero router will be your primary router and Wi-Fi connection, then you'll want to decrease the amount of other Wi-Fi signals going on around to house to get achieve best performance.

General Steps:

  1. Visit your ISP router control panel on your browser (usually 192.168.1.1 or on the sticker on the unit)
  2. Login to the interface - login information is usually available on a sticker on the unit
  3. Select the Wi-Fi or Wireless settings 
  4. Disable both Wi-Fi signals - 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz
  5. Let your ISP router a couple of minutes to automatically restart.
